Surgery Awaits….
UPDATE: Surgery did NOT happen today. There are some labs, etc. I have to have done for the go ahead. It was explained in graphic detail what will be happening and I agreed with them. We have to be the best prepared that we can be both as patient and doctor. It’s a bigger deal than I thought so I think recovery will be a bit longer than I expected. New appointments are already made for the test I need, and the surgery date which is November 5th. Sigh… I’m taking the rest of the afternoon to absorb it all, reset, and get some sleep. I will be back at it tomorrow preparing again to be the best I can be going into this come November 5th.
In the meantime, this will allow Tom to work on all the RV stuff and if inspection works out, etc., we can have that done before surgery so looking at the positives! I’ll keep you posted on that as I learn myself.
At 6:45 this morning, I will be starting my prep work for surgery on my right eye. With no complications, I will be done with surgery in about two hours. They will get me home and put me to bed. For a few days I am required to lay flat other than every hour, I can get up for 10 minutes to eat or use the restroom. This goes on for approximately 5 days. I will be put under full anesthesia during the entire operation. Needless to say, I will be very groggy the rest of the day and night. My daughter cleaned and sanitized my room and the bathroom so that I start out in a sterile environment. Tom is my designated caregiver which the Doctor requested I have.
I am so ready for this. You can’t imagine how rough it’s been in my vision and in both eyes. I know I’ll have good days and bad days, but I feel confident that I’ll be ok. Doesn’t mean I may not have some tough times, but I kept saying we got this!! The “Storm” which is me and you’ll understand if you have read my previous posts, is a brewing. I’m taking this and going into it full force! I’m surprisingly very calm this morning. I’m going to go back to bed, play my games and if I can sleep, I will. Otherwise, I will be waiting until it’s time to take my shower and head to surgery. It’s time to meet Jack:) This will be the only other man in my life other than Tom and well, my grandson lol.
I will be back when I can be, and eventually will be sharing more RV information.
So for now, let’s just say The Storm is brewing and has some business to take care of:)
