Dna scramble….

I am going to share a little information about dna that I find very interesting. When you have an organ transplant, the donor dna becomes part of the entire makeup of your system. Sometimes you get just a little of their dna, and sometimes you get a lot. For a full corneal tissue transplant in which I am getting, the dna only affects the blood and your immune system.

I have made a Dear Donor page which I will start at a bit later date when I am able to see the computer well enough but I didn’t like the idea that I don’t have a name for them. Of course, real information isn’t given out through the bank to share with family, etc. but I felt like that they needed a name. I don’t want to go around seeing sites etc. when we travel without a name, because for me they will forever be a part of me. I also want to give them life to the things that I share with them and make something positive come out of this for them and myself.

I thought of the song Jack and Diane, and if you’re older, you know immediately from the names what song that is. Tomorrow I will be bringing Jack back to life! 3 months later, Diane will be joining him in the left eye. When I am able to work on that page, I will include the video with that song and my personal letters to them and occasionally some pictures that we will share.

Transplant surgery of any kind is not for the faint hearted. It can go bad quickly as well as it could go very well. Some are more involved and put you closer to life and death, and others play with the idea but you are in a better place to fight rejection. Any of them all have a significant life changing effect on your body and your mind and life itself. Once you have processed it, you find a safe place for your thoughts to be. I’m at my safe place and ready to meet Jack and Diane.

Until Next time,

Becky
