Living in an RV….
We stayed at Pocahontas Park which was close as we are in Virginia (where our daughter and son in law live) for two weeks. We used this time to start putting all of our stuff away in our RV. We worked our butts off and still have much more to do but the main cabin with the driving section and kitchen area is almost finished except for a couple of small things. The expectations you dream of in downsizing compared to the reality is so shockingly different. There are a lot of lessons to learn going through this transition. The awesome part is once you’ve downsized, it greatly compares to the reality of what things are really needed and used via the reality of what you thought you needed, in most cases you really don’t need at all. We start on the bathroom tomorrow although we did get a lot of it done also. The depressing thing is how little bathrooms are on an RV lol Compact basin and storage is not my friend. I actually hate it but you get used to it in time. I’m a chunky monkey so the toilet paper holder kept sticking me in the ribs being so close to the toilet so it had to go lol Put up another so that it is conducive to your butt on the toilet and reaching out ahead of you to rip that paper off lol. The shower is dinky too. Being disabled, I required a seat so that I can sit and shower but my knees don’t have much room even sitting lol I feel like I have a plastic cocoon around me but like a butterfly, once I come out of that cocoon, I smell, feel and look better lol.
You all know what valances are right? Whomever designs RV’s have the most gawd awful taste in decor. They are ugly, in the way, and take room that can be utilitzed better with individual needs. My score card shows all valances in living area and kitchen are gone:). Bedroom project is next. I catch my fingers on the sides of valances and I’m afraid one of these times that I’m going to break a finger lol We will probably start on that project in a couple days.
We have a Thor 39 foot motorhome class A toy hauler. We chose that so we could use the garage part and transforms it into storage and what fits our needs. That will be the last big room and that probably won’t happen for about week or maybe a bit less. I won’t worry about that yet as that will be a bit overwhelming as space is limited and we have to be aware of organization but in saying that, I already have some ideas. I can organize very well:)
That leaves us at getting ready to pack up and head to TN. We have a son that lives there and we rarely get to see him. We look forward to doing that. We enjoy genealogy and a lot of Toms ancestry, where he is a Mayflower descendent, and will be researching a few states while doing some record hunting as time allows. As we go to our sites, we will leave detailed descriptions of the RV parks in case others are interested. So stayed tuned for honest, descriptive reviews. I will tell you specifics on those particular posts and will be making a section just about those locations.
That’s all for now! Posts may be a bit sporadic depending on our working on the RV versus researching or checking out the areas we experience. Stay tuned for much more!!
Until next time, Happy Camping!!
